God is our Rock. Some people experience God as a Rock of Wonders (miracles) and some experience Him as a Rock of infliction. He is actually our God of Wonders yet His infliction is in the service of His Wonders
Ps 105:5 says: "Remember His marvelous works that he hath done; His wonders, and the judgments (infliction/worth) of his mouth"
He is the Rock of Wonders! Wonder means wonderful, miracles, surprises.
Act 4:30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.
We see that many signs and wonders are done by Jesus as evidence (witness) of God's Faithfulness and Trustworthiness, of His covenant promise, in bringing us total and complete freedom from all sin and guilt.
Heb 2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken (preached, declared, announced) by the Lord, and was confirmed (established) unto us by them that heard him;
Neglect means to be careless of, make light of, be negligent, not regard.
Heb 2:4 God also bearing them witness (unite in adding evidence), both with signs and wonders (tokens) and with divers miracles (miraculous power), and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will (determination)?
Yet most did not see and thus believe His witness that Jesus is truly the Son of God and the Lamb of God who took away the sin of the world. Therefor he became a stumbling stone and a Rock of infliction/offence.
Rom 9:31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
Rom 9:32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone;
Rom 9:33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Jesus was despised and rejected for our acceptance and joy. He took on Himself the sins of the world and in exchange made us right with God.
Act 4:11 This is the stone which was set at nought (despised, least esteemed) of you builders, which is become the head of the corner (seizing, the part most readily taken hold of)
Christ is the chosen, precious and living stone in Whom we are included as living stones. God is the builder Who built us on the foundation which is Christ. He has chosen us in Christ as a building of God, as a holy nation to show forth His praises, with thanksgiving as the fruit of our lips for His Wonders.
1Pe 2:4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
Disallowed means to disapprove, that is, (by implication) to repudiate, reject.
1Pe 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
1Pe 2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
Precious means valued, dear, more honorable, precious, in reputation.
Confounded means to shame down, that is, disgrace or (by implication) put to the blush, confound, dishonor or shame.
God's faith/persuasion of what He has accomplished for us through His death and resurrection leads to obedience to His persuasion. Therefor we see Christ for who He truly is - the precious cornerstone, the head of the building which is His body, the church.
To those that are caught up and blinded by a religious mindset that we ourselves choose to believe by our own faith/persuasion see Him as a rock of offense, a stone of stumbling.
These are those that get angry at the Word of Grace in hearing that Christ has come to do away with sin altogether. They think that it is in their effort of choice that saves them from sin, when Christ in actual fact has saved them before the foundation of the world. This we see and trust.
1Pe 2:7 Unto you therefore which believe He is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
1Pe 2:8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
1Pe 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:
1Pe 2:10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
God has done a wonder work in Christ with spectacular results. He has forgiven us from all our sins, took sin away, saved us by Grace and included us in Him as our Rock of Wonders, therefore He sees us as signs and wonders, as holy in Him! We are the product of the cross!!!!He embrace us, value us and see us as His dear and precious stones!!!
Therefor we see Him as our God of wonders and His infliction as only to bring us to the revelation of our inclusion as His wonders!!!!!!
