Theme: BLOCKAGES/OBSTACLES REMOVED:
Have you ever wondered why it feels as if God has blocked your way from the good/from the experience of blessing?
Tell of a time that you felt this way.
In Job 3:23 Job asks the same question:
“Why is light given to a man whose way is hidden, and whom God has hedged (fenced in/blocked) in?
Who of you have gone to run at the gym on the treadmill and all of a sudden, in the middle of your concentration, the treadmill stops dead. You nearly stumble over your feet to remain standing and you grab onto the handle. The treadmill screen shows “blocked” and you cannot exercise any further on the treadmill.
Sometimes our lives feel like a treadmill on which you run and all of a sudden you stumble over your own feet due to circumstances that brings you to a standstill. You can’t go any further. You are blocked to go further on the same way that you always went. Suddenly things change around you and you wonder why (like Job)?
And yet God says in Jeremiah 32:40:
“And I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good for them. I will put a desire in their hearts to worship me, and they will never leave me.”
God thus made, from His initiative and from His side (One sided), a covenant that can never change.
A covenant is a promise from God’s side which He has made (sealed) with Christ and whereby we are included.
He made it without our permission and without us asking for it. We had no contribution in the promise.
It is as a testament by which we are included with no contribution. A testament is without our own will/decisions, without our begging or pleading.
What is His covenant promise? That He will always do good. He says that He gave us a heart that is completely focused on Him. That is opposite to the idea that we have to, from our side, focus on God by our own efforts. No, with His covenant promise God is focused on us and that He is the guarantee thereof and therefore it cannot fail. Therefor it is a solid Foundation and a joyful assurance.
“Accordingly Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant.”
Therefor you cannot or do not have to fail in times that it feels that you are blocked on all sides by situations that makes you feel hopeless or helpless or your failures of those or other. Even your losses He turns for good. The blockages/obstacles are there to bring us to the persuasion of God’s new Way that He prepared for us.
Ephesians 2:20 says:
“Because we are a product of His work and are in union with Christ Jesus, recreated for the good works that God prepared for us to walk in.”
Another word or description for blockage is middle wall. Sometimes it feels as if we are running against walls and can’t go further. Doors are closed and we do not understand why. It feels as if God doesn’t answer out prayers, it feels as if God is far away in our minds and if there is a wall between you and God, like the treadmill where you feel you can’t go further.
Ephesians 2:13-14 says:
Verse 13: “But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.”
Verse 14: “For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; “
God has taken away and removed the blockages. He has broken down that wall of partition/dividing wall in Himself in Christ and included us in His goodness and blessings in Him!
There is no blockage, no problem, no situation that can separate us from God in His goodness and free favor – He IS your goodness!
In the midst of your weakness, your hopelessness, God grabbed you when you stumbled.
Philipians 3:12 says:..”But I run to win (lay hold/embrace) that which Jesus Christ has already won (lay hold of/embraced) for me.”
He grabbed me/laid hold of me/embraced me, therefor I grab hold of Him – I walk in this already reality wherein I now am.
Reality is that He has placed you in Him, you are included in Him. The handles of the treadmill doesn’t become a reality only when you grab hold of it, it has always been there! The mystery that He made known to us in His covenant promise is that He holds you even if you let go.
By His own will and free Grace He decided to take all the blockages away and to remove it. This doesn’t mean that we do not go through situations in our walk. No, within our situation He holds you and embraces you and has He already accomplished the victory for you by His blood on the cross. He has taken away the dividing wall between you and Him for eternity!
Therefor you can, with all boldness walk in this reality! He has broken down the middle wall of sin, guilt, failures, disappointments and the unbelief that divided us in our minds. God has given us a new identity, a new treadmill/way wherein He has placed us namely Christ. This new way is Himself in you, the fullness of fulfillment, joy, peace and satisfaction!
Isaiah 57:14 says:
“He said," Build it up, build it up, prepare the way, remove every obstacle from My people's way." God said He has removed all the blockages/obstacles out of the way, by His Grace and initiative!
